Why?…..do you love where you live….🤔

Nah, my city sucks. I've worked hard to build a bubble that keeps me content, but the city and area I live in are just awful. Few food options, widespread poverty, squatter settlements everywhere, blatant corruption, brownouts, crap roads, endless roadwork to build more crap roads, pointless traffic, no sense of community, super expensive electricity despite the constant outages and low voltage, and trash everywhere. I'd rather live in a better city or area where the basics are already part of society. Getting solar soon, so maybe my bubble will get a bit more enjoyable.

[Photo] I picked the most amazing subdivision we could find. Walking around my neighborhood is like walking through a park. My kids can ride their bikes, scooters and skateboards all day without worrying about getting run over. This bubble is probably also our secret to shrugging off most of the Philippines' craziness - once we've had enough, we just go home and reset by the pool.

If it weren't for the women, I wouldn't be here. 😆

I didn't at first. But the slow provincial life in Mindanao grew on me. Barely anything happens on any given day. Far from the city and big places, where the kids used to play, now it's just peaceful, slow days waiting for the kids to come home from school.

I love living in Makati: no brownouts, lots to do, always new restaurants to try, BGC is a quick drive away and a great place to hang out, no worrying about flooding, and shopping is easy.
