The new playbook: find a wife in the Philippines, then take her to Thailand or Vietnam

I'm seeing this really often lately. The logic is simple. It's easier to meet a woman in the Philippines than in Thailand or Vietnam. You don't want to stay in the Philippines because the quality of life is poor. If you take her to the US, she changes and divorces you to be with a better man. So the solution: move to Thailand or Vietnam. Both are said to have much better infrastructure and quality of life than the Philippines, and there's little risk of your Filipina wife being led astray by the locals there.

I only bring it up because I'm seeing this A LOT lately.

Thoughts?

What a loser thing to post.

Choosing a partner

Fellas? Why would you marry a woman you think will leave for a 'better man'? Just stick to standards that match your own level. If you MUST go with a Pinay (Filipina), date for a few years before committing. If you're sure she's good after four months… you're fooling yourself. You've had bad experiences, so you want to believe this one must be an angel. You're wrong.

Insecure much?

What a weak man. Afraid his wife will dump him for a better man in the States. I made sure my wife got US citizenship so she'd have more choices after I head off to Valhalla. The inferiority and selfishness are strong in OP.

It's not easy to move a Filipina wife to Thailand or Vietnam long-term.

Women aren't goods

Women aren't actually commodities to be acquired, owned, traded or shipped around the world like inventory or assets. Just something to think about.

Age gap debate

When you say 'leaves you for a better man,' do you mean a man who isn't thirty years older than her? I ask because I believe that if you find an age-appropriate woman with good values and treat her with respect, why would she leave?

Stop criticizing OP, guys. He has a point. So many 'good girls' from the Philippines change completely once they're uprooted from their environment and move to a Western country. People who worked hard just to survive become lonely, bored and lazy in their new homes. Many of them make friends at the local church or online. Sometimes those 'friends' are rotten apples who convince them they deserve better. From there to finding a lover and asking for a divorce is a shorter step than you'd imagine. The blame for these messes falls equally on the man and the Filipina. The man may be too naive, or too kind and generous, thinking that giving his dream girl a middle-class life while grinding 10 hours a day is enough to earn her love and loyalty forever. The woman is, more often than not, young, immature and easily swayed. All she has to offer is her (fleeting) looks, if even that. Choosing the right woman takes a particular kind of effort, in the Philippines or anywhere else. It takes legwork on the ground, a good dose of realism (cynicism, really) and more than a pinch of luck. And in 2026 the arbitrage window is almost completely closed, even in the rural Philippines. Millennial and Gen Z girls are just as spoiled and entitled as anyone else, glued to their phones and social media, convinced they can swap men like Pokémon cards to maximize what their looks can earn them. Once a man finds the right woman, it no longer matters whether it's the Philippines, Vietnam or the US. The relationship is solid and can last through all of life's ups and downs.
